Latest Projections Show EVP Ahead in European Parliament Elections

Berlin, Germany - The latest opinion polls in Germany show the country's ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU) parties gaining ground ahead of the upcoming European Parliament elections.

According to an ARD television broadcast at 7:58 pm, the CDU/CSU bloc is currently leading with 25% of the vote, up from 23% in recent weeks.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has also made significant gains, rising to 12% in opinion polls and overtaking the Greens as the second-largest party in Germany.

In the European Parliament elections, the center-right European People's Party (EVP) is projected to come out ahead, with its German candidate Ursula von der Leyen as a frontrunner for the presidency of the European Commission.

The latest polls suggest a potentially close race for the European Parliament elections, with a number of parties vying for the top spots. The final results will be announced on May 26, 2019.
